Many El Paso seniors and adults with disabilities can get a caregiver at home paid for by Texas Medicaid. Here’s how it works, in four steps.
Step 1: Check whether you might qualify
STAR+PLUS covers adults 65 and older, and adults 21 and older with a disability, who have Texas Medicaid. Having Medicare too is fine.
Step 2: Apply for Medicaid if you don’t have it
Apply online at YourTexasBenefits.com, call 2-1-1, or visit a local HHSC office. Have ID, proof of income and proof of address ready.
Step 3: Choose a health plan
Once approved, Texas mails you enrollment materials. You have 15 days to choose a STAR+PLUS health plan, or one is assigned to you.
Step 4: Ask for in-home help and pick your agency
Your plan’s service coordinator assesses what help you need and approves hours. Tell them you’d like Abundant Living Home Health as your provider.
